TIJNR seeks to promote nursing and midwifery practices, professional ethics, and leadership in healthcare by publishing original research, reviews, case reports and case studies. The journal emphasizes evidence-based nursing and encourages contributions that bridge clinical practice with academic research.
It also aims to foster innovation in nursing education, global workforce development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. P. Jayanthi, RN, RM, M.Sc. (N), Ph.D. (N) is a distinguished nursing academician, researcher, and administrator with more than 22 years of experience in nursing education, research, clinical supervision, and academic leadership. She is currently serving as Professor cum Principal at the College of Nursing, Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science, Chennai, and also serves as the Head of the Department, School of Health Sciences.
Dr. Jayanthi obtained her Ph.D. in Nursing from SRM University and specialized in Psychiatric Nursing through her M.Sc. (N). Her academic and research interests include mental health nursing, adolescent mental health, nursing education, community health, and evidence-based nursing practice.
Throughout her career, she has held several key academic positions in reputed nursing institutions and has guided numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research projects. She has authored and co-authored more than 60 research publications in national and international journals, including several indexed journals.
An active contributor to the nursing profession, Dr. Jayanthi has organized and delivered lectures at numerous national and international conferences, workshops, and faculty development programs. She serves as reviewer and editorial board member for several scholarly journals and has received multiple awards for excellence in nursing research, academic leadership, and peer review.
Dr. Jayanthi is committed to advancing nursing education, fostering research excellence, and promoting quality healthcare through innovation, leadership, and mentorship.

Dr. Faith Rosemary Sebuliba Kasumba, PhD
Dr. Faith Rosemary Sebuliba Kasumba is a distinguished nursing educator, researcher, and academic leader with more than four decades of experience in nursing practice, education, and professional development. She currently serves as Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at Uganda Christian University, Uganda.
Her career has been dedicated to advancing nursing education through curriculum development, academic leadership, student mentorship, and the promotion of excellence in clinical and professional practice. She has played a significant role in strengthening nursing and midwifery training programmes, fostering evidence-based practice, and supporting the development of future healthcare professionals.
Dr. Sebuliba’s research interests include nursing education, infection prevention and control, maternal health, clinical practice improvement, and healthcare workforce development. She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, contributing to the growth of nursing scholarship in Uganda and beyond.
As an academic leader, she provides leadership and administration for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery programmes. Her responsibilities include curriculum design, programme review, accreditation compliance, teaching and supervision of students, coordination of clinical placements and simulation-based learning, mentorship of students and faculty, and the promotion of faith-based, values-driven nursing education and practice.
Dr. Sebuliba is actively engaged in professional and community service. She is a Registered Member of the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, a Member of the Uganda Society of Health Scientists, a Peer Reviewer for the Uganda Journal of Nurses and Midwives, and a Member of the Nurses and Midwives Christian Fellowship Uganda. She is also affiliated with the Association of Graduate Nurses and Midwives Uganda and serves as Secretary of both the UCU Senior Savers Association and UCU Senior Savers SACCO Limited.
A committed advocate for quality healthcare, lifelong learning, and professional excellence, Dr. Sebuliba continues to contribute to academic, professional, and community initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes and advancing the nursing profession.
Dr. Elizabeth Musili Joseph-Shehu

Dr. Elizabeth Musili Joseph-Shehu is an accomplished nurse educator, researcher, and academic leader with nearly three decades of experience in tertiary education, clinical practice, and curriculum development. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Nursing Science and Postgraduate Coordinator at the National Open University of Nigeria, where she has played a pivotal role in advancing nursing education and research.
Her career spans diverse roles, including Head of Department, Senior Lecturer, and curriculum consultant for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement under USAID. She has also coordinated the Bachelor of Nursing Science program at Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, and served as an external examiner for institutions in Nigeria, South Africa, and Guyana.
Dr. Joseph-Shehu is a Fellow of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Society of Nursing and a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Association of University Nursing Programme and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives. She has received numerous awards, such as the Golden Key International Honour Society Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and multiple research grants, including the 2022 Senate Research Grant at NOUN.
Research and Publications
Her research interests include workplace health promotion, reproductive health, women and child health, midwifery, family planning, and health promotion among rural and vulnerable populations. She has also expanded her focus to the health promotion of populations living with noncommunicable and communicable diseases.
Dr. Joseph-Shehu has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, authored textbooks, and contributed chapters in academic books. She is also the co-developer of the Tertiary Staff Health Promotion App (TASHePA), a digital innovation registered with the Nigerian Copyright Commission.
Teaching and Mentorship
As an educator, she has mentored countless undergraduate and postgraduate students, integrating innovative pedagogical approaches such as problem-based learning and experiential simulations. Her leadership in curriculum design has strengthened nursing education standards nationally, including contributions to the National Universities Commission’s Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS).
Professional Service
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Joseph-Shehu has served as an examiner for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and contributed to accreditation processes that secured full professional and academic recognition for nursing programs. She continues to play a vital role in shaping nursing education policy and practice in Nigeria.
