Abstract:

The current study evaluated the epidemiological characteristics and transmission features of COVID-19 in FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. A total of 385 participants from secondary and tertiary health facilities were enrolled for the study. It reported 23,239 confirmed cases with male preponderance (54.4%). The incidence was cumulated at a rate of 6.7 per 100,000, and the case fatality rate was 0.30%. Low vaccination rates were observed. Socio-demographic characteristics of the HCWs demonstrated that depression, anxiety, and financial concerns are all high in them. Again, health service delivery regarding immunization, family planning, and routine check-ups was badly affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was recommended that strengthening the public health response through vaccination activities and providing support for HCWs would be some of the key things that could lessen the full impact brought about by COVID-19 within FCT.
